The projects microbes I + II were shown at Milan Furniture Fair 2018 at the Ventura Future Area. The exhibition was designed in the form of a bio-lab under laboratory standards: a combination of a real lab for the university and an modular travelling exhibition.
The 13 projects presented there by students of industrial design are investigating the use of biotechnology in design processes. The works developed under the direction of Prof. Mareike Gast highlight ethical aspects when microbes are used in the fabrication of products. The presented work focuses in particular on algae as a resource of the future and bacteria that produce biominerals.
