How do you convey the essence of an object?
Viewing an object in an exhibition, unable to use it or see it in its correct context, how do we understand it? What about experiencing it only online?
Presenting, and representing, your designs is a constant part of a designer’s life. This term we are looking at how you present work IRL, and how you represent it digitally. We want to create a dialogue between the real and the virtual, stretching each medium to show objects in new and exciting ways.
We will be designing and building a physical exhibition system – stands, lighting, signage, everything – and at the same time developing a complementary digital platform for showing work through rendering, 3D scanning, graphics and UX design. Throughout the project we will design for different objects – some of your choosing, some not. For those interested there will be opportunities to collaborate with students in other design courses to use their work as objects in your exhibition.
